Accessibility

Evenside should work for everyone.

Reporting a repair, replying to one or approving a quote should be easy for everyone, whatever device you use and however you use the web.

The standard we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. They’re published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and 2.2 is the latest version it has published as a Recommendation.

What we do

  • Plain English throughout, with no legal jargon. Where the law sets a date, we say so and show where it comes from.
  • Standard buttons, links and form fields, so keyboards and screen readers work the way you expect.
  • Choices answer the arrow keys, and the keyboard keeps its place as you move between screens, in view and clear of the bars at the top and bottom.
  • Every form field has a label, and buttons with only an icon say what they do to screen readers.
  • Buttons are big enough to tap easily, and none is smaller than WCAG 2.2 asks.
  • When your device asks for less motion, nothing slides or bounces.
  • When your device is set to dark, every page is dark too, with words just as easy to read.
  • Signing in is by a code sent to you, with no password to remember.
  • Every new screen is checked on a phone and on a wide screen before it goes out, including by an automated WCAG 2.2 checker.

What isn’t done yet

  • We haven’t had an independent accessibility audit yet.
  • Photos people add, of repairs or of a home when they move in, don’t have written descriptions.

Tell us what gets in your way
