Terms

The terms of using Evenside.

In plain English, for renters, property managers, tradies and owners. If you use Evenside, these terms apply.

About these terms

Evenside is run by Evenside (ABN 38 396 532 553). These terms cover our website, the tenant app, the agency dashboard and the links we send to tradies and owners. The laws of New South Wales apply to them.

What Evenside is

Evenside helps people report, follow and sort out repairs to rented homes. It gives general information about tenancy law, never legal advice. The dates and rules come from official sources, which we check every week, but the law changes and your situation may be different. For advice about your own situation, contact your state’s free tenant advice service.

Evenside isn’t part of your tenancy. The landlord and their agency are still responsible for repairs, and you keep every right the law gives you. In an emergency, like a gas leak, fire or flooding, call 000 first.

Using Evenside

  • Tell us the truth, and only report repairs for a home you rent or manage.
  • Keep your sign-in codes and your links to yourself. Anyone with a link can act on that job.
  • Only add what’s needed for the repair. Nothing unlawful, and nobody else’s private information.
  • Don’t try to get into what isn’t yours, or get in the way of Evenside working for others.
  • Don’t copy Evenside or any part of it, collect from it with bots or other automated tools other than the ones Evenside offers, or take its software apart to see how it works.
  • Don’t use Evenside to build, or help build, something that competes with it.

What you add

What you write and upload stays yours. You let us keep it and show it to the people working on the repair, so Evenside can do its job. Tradies see only what the agency shares with them, and never a renter’s phone or email. Our privacy policy says more about how we look after it.

What’s ours

Evenside itself is ours, including its software, its design, its words and logo, and the way it sets out each state’s tenancy rules. Using Evenside lets you use it as these terms say, and nothing more. To use any of it another way, ask us first.

For renters

Evenside is free for renters. Your repair goes to the property manager you name, so check their email is right. Evenside sends your messages when you choose to, and you can always contact your property manager another way too.

Your repairs stay in your account for as long as you keep it, even after you move or your agency stops using Evenside. If nobody uses it for 6 years, we’ll email you, and delete it 30 days later unless you sign in.

For agencies

  • Your agency starts with 30 days free on Office Plus. If they end before 31 December 2026, Office stays free until the end of that day. After that, one of your admins can choose Office or Office Plus in your dashboard, at the prices on our pricing page, paid monthly by card. An agency with more than 500 homes with tenants can agree a price of its own with us instead, paid by invoice.
  • A monthly plan is a set price each month and a set price for each home with tenants on Evenside, counted for each month’s bill. A home counts while a tenant who joined it on Evenside lives there. When you no longer manage a home, say so on it in your dashboard, and its tenancies end that day. Its renters keep their repairs and history.
  • Your admins can change your plan or stop it any time in your dashboard. A plan stops at the end of the month you’ve paid for, and you keep it until then.
  • From 1 January 2027, your free days start once one of your admins adds a card on our payment provider’s own page, so its details never reach us. Nothing is charged in your free days, and after them we only charge it for a plan one of your admins chooses.
  • Evenside isn’t registered for GST, so there’s no GST in our prices. If we register, our prices stay the same and include the GST.
  • You’re responsible for who’s on your team and what they do in Evenside, and for using your tenants’, owners’ and tradies’ information under your own privacy obligations.
  • Share a photo or document with a tradie or owner only when they need it for the repair, and check it has nothing private about the renter first.
  • On Office Plus, you choose whether an urgent repair goes to the preferred tradie for that kind of repair, and after how long, and which tradies tenants can call. It starts off. Check with your tradies first. Owner approval limits still apply.
  • Your admins can also have routine repairs sent to the preferred tradie for that kind, and quotes within the owner’s limit and invoices that match their quote approved as they come in. Each is off until you turn it on. Keep each home’s approval limit as the owner agreed it, as Evenside approves within it.
  • Each tenant keeps their own history of the repairs they reported, for as long as they keep their account, even after they move or your access ends. It has the messages your team sends them, the photos, and who came and when, and never your team’s notes.
  • When your access ends, nothing is deleted. Your tenants can still report repairs, and each one still reaches you by email. To keep using the dashboard, one of your admins can choose a plan.

For tradies and owners

  • Your link is for the job or repair it’s about. Use what it shows you, like the address and how to get in, only for that job and your own records of it.
  • Don’t pass it on to anyone else, and keep it safe for as long as you keep it.
  • You’re responsible for your own work, quotes and invoices, and for meeting your own obligations, like your licences and the privacy law that applies to you.

Keeping Evenside running

We work hard to keep Evenside running and your information safe, but we can’t promise it will never be down or never get something wrong. Emails can be delayed or caught by spam filters, so if a repair can’t wait, phone your property manager too. We may change or improve how Evenside works, and we’ll tell agencies before any big change.

If something goes wrong

Our services come with guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded, and nothing in these terms takes them away. Beyond those guarantees, and as far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses from relying on general information, from what other people do or don’t do about a repair, or from things outside our control.

For agencies, where the law allows it, our responsibility for a problem with our services is limited to supplying them again, or paying the cost of supplying them again.

Stopping

You can stop using Evenside at any time. An agency’s plan ends as we agreed with it. We may pause an account that misuses Evenside, and we’ll tell you why.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and its date. For a change that matters to agencies, we’ll tell them at least 30 days before it applies.
